Victorian sterling silver and cut glass tea caddy, English hallmarks for Chester 1898.  From the silversmith firm of George Nathan & Ridley Hayes, in business circa 1895-1915, with addresses in both Birmingham and London.

The oval glass caddy has multiple vertical cuts, creating a texture not online crushed velvet, framing “TEA” in bold lettering.  The ornately decorated hinged lid is covered in raised flowers and scrolling flourishes, framing a central blank cartouche suitable for a monogram.  The interior of the lid has the original gold wash.
