Product CodeWWFDSSFC2805
Product NameVictorian Sterling Silver Folding Comb, London 1866
Product Description

Rare Victorian era solid sterling silver folding comb, hallmarked for London 1866.  From the silversmiths Wright & Davies (William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davies) of Oxford Street, London W., in business circa 1864-1894 and continued on by Wright alone until 1919.

The shaft, teeth and frame of the comb are entirely sterling silver, with the component parts hallmarked in multiple places.

The comb is crested with a heraldic Eagle close *, meaning an eagle perched on a flat surface, seen from the side with his wings folded and down.

The comb is in amazing condition, with minor wear only to the clarity of the eagle crest.

A great gift for a gentleman with a thick moustache!

3” (7.6cm) long, 5 3/4” (14.6cm) long opened, 7/8” (2.2cm) wide.

$1550.

* The photo of the eagle positions is from Wikipedia.
