* Edouard Bisson was a French pre-Raphaelite painter who focused on depicting stylized feminine beauty during the Fin de Siècle, which translates to “end of the century”, an idiom used to describe the time period of 1900, comparable to the English phrase “turn of the century”.

Bisson was a member of the Paris Salon, winning Honourable Mentions in exhibits of 1881 and 1889.  He was awarded the bronze metal at the Universal Paris Exposition in 1900 and became a Knight of the French Legion of Honor in 1908.
