Vintage Georg Jensen sterling silver bookmark, design # 60. The bookmark has an overall hammered finish on a leaf and berries motif design. Trademarked with the post 1945 impressed stamp of Georg Jensen in a dotted oval. The bookmark is engraved MISPAH. Mispah / Mizpah is the Hebrew word for watchtower, or “May God watch over you”. The meaning has evolved to become a symbol of emotional attachment between two people who are separated by distance or death. Mizpah jewellery became popular in the Victorian era as a symbol of love or friendship. 2 3/4” (7cm) by 1 1/8” (3cm).
