Whiting Sterling Silver Asparagus Server, Heraldic Pattern

Whiting sterling silver asparagus server in the “Heraldic” pattern.  This medieval inspired pattern was registered by Whiting Manufacturing Company in 1880.  It features a knight’s helmet over a shield, with overall floral scrolling on the handle front and back. The server is satin finished gold washed on the tines.  Monogrammed in Script with a “B”.  Presented in the original box, with a crushed velvet exterior and satin interior. Retailed by W.H. Glenny Sons & Co. of Buffalo, NY.  

Glenny Sons & Co. was a prominent retailer of fine china, glass and silver, established in Buffalo circa 1840.  At the time of William Glenny’s death in 1882 he had multiple locations in many western States.  

The asparagus server is 9 1/2” (24.2cm) long.

The box is 11 1/2” (29.2cm) by 4 1/4” (10.8cm), 2” (5.1cm) high.
