Product Description

Chinese Export sterling silver cocktail shaker.  It has a peen (hammered) finish, giving it the texture of orange peel.  Made by Tuck Chang & Co., 67 Broadway Rd., Shanghai, China, circa 1920.

9 1/2” high, 4” diameter.

Probably one of the best known retail silversmiths of the latter half of the 19th century in Shanghai - often referred to as being the ‘Wang Hing’ of Shanghai. Like Wang Hing in Canton and Hong Kong, Tuck Chang sold high quality jewelery, silver wares, jade and ivory.  (A. Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 4th edition 2015, page 763)
