The Goldscheider family and business emigrated from Vienna to the USA and the UK in 1938. Walter Goldscheider opened a factory in Trenton, New Jersey and subsequently returned to Vienna in 1950. Marcel Goldscheider went to Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England and produced figurative ceramics for Myott. He later opened his own studio in the 1950s in Hanley. This piece is labelled Goldscheider with Myott Son & Co.
