Vintage Wedgwood Black Basalt chess pieces of a King and Queen.

Designed by Arnold Machin (1911-1999) for Wedgwood circa 1965.  

These pieces have impressed date marks for 1978.

The King is 5 1/2” (14cm) high.

The Queen is 5 1/4” (13.5cm) high.

They are 1 1/2” (4cm) in diameter at the base.
