Large Sheffield silver plate meat dome, English, circa 1830s.

There is a large presentation engraving, which is a Variation of the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom dated between 1801-1837.

The family anecdote is that this dome is connected to the Duke of Marlborough.

HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y  PENSE - French maxim used as the motto of the British chivalric Order of the Garter.  Translates to “May he be shamed who thinks badly of it”.           

NEC TEMPRE NEC TIMID - Latin for “Neither rashly nor timidly”.

19” (48cm) by 14” (35.5cm) at the base, 11” (28cm) high.
