A significant Art Nouveau Sarreguemines Majolica jardiniere. French, circa 1900.
Decorated with poppies, wildflowers and bumblebees raised against a mottled brown background. The interior is a solid turquoise blue.
The bottom has the impressed mark Sarreguemines 630.
There is a small hairline at the rim.

The firm of Sarreguemines was established in 1790. From the 19th century on Sarreguemines has provided a vast collection of earthenware, vases, decorative flower pots, wall frescos, chimneys and tiles. The factory supplied most of the original tiles used to decorate the walls of the Paris metro during its construction.
