This Vintage Rolls Royce Roadster Picnic Hamper Belonged To Lord Beaverbrook was made by Coracle
(The 1st Baron Beaverbrook, Sir William Maxwell "Max" Aitken, 1879-1964).
The set is for 6 with most of the original dishes, flatware, food and drink containers, circa 1930s. It is in "as found" condition
The dimensions of the box closed are 36 3/8 inches (92.39cm) long X 16 5/8 inches (42.23cm) wide X 7 3/4 inches (19.69cm) high.
It is comprised of:
- 1 - picnic hamper, with custom leather fittings on the inside of its top lid
- 1 - divided frame insert
- 2 - covered vegetable dishes
- 1 - covered metal box
- 1 - metal flask
- 2 - wrapped bottles - neck of one cracked
- 1 - copper tea kettle with burner and its cover
- 12 - enameled metal plates, 5 showing chips
- 5 - cups - 2 cracked
- 6 - saucers
- 1 - perserve jar with lid - small nick on the rim,
- 1 - butter jar with lid - fine hairline crack on the lid , plus leather belt closure
- 3 - large glasses
- 3 - large glass holders
- 2 - smaller glasses

- 2 - condiment jars, with lids

- 1 - skaker, with lid

Lord Beaverbrook, Sir William Maxwell “Max” Aitken (1879-1964),
the 1st Baron Beaverbrook, from Newcastle, New Brunswick, Canada.
Lord Beaverbrook was prominent in many businesses in Canada, moving to the UK in 1910 and furthering his business acquisitions, primarily in the press. He was a personal friend of Bonar Law, also from New Brunswick and the only Canadian to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
In 1910 Lord Beaverbrook won a seat in the British House of Commons, remaining in politics continually for decades, holding various cabinet positions in the governments of David Lloyd George and Winston Churchill.
He befriended many British Prime Ministers including Winston Churchill, who regarded him as a political and personal confidant.
