Victorian era silver plate claret jug, English, circa 1880-1900.  The graceful, Greco-Roman amphora shape inspired jug is decorated with applied lion masks holding garlands and scrolled engraving on both sides framing an empty roundel suitable for engraving.  Raised on a simple pedestal foot with a stylized leaf and handle.

Unmarked.  Minor wear to the silver plating visible only on the raised garlands; wear consistent with age and use.

12” (30.5cm) high, 5” (12.7cm) diameter at the widest.
