Victorian silver plate chafing dish, or bain-marie.

Manufactured by George Richmond Collis & Co., Church St., Birmingham, England, circa 1855.

The dish is of an unusual quatrefoil type form.  The base has two handles and is hollow to hold hot water.  The middle portion has a heavy shell form handle.  The cover has a removable finial of a cherub emerging from a rose in bloom.  It is engraved with a lion rampant over  three initials.

13 1/4” by 13 1/2”, 8” high.
