Edwardian Sterling Silver Picture Frame, Birmingham 1906

Antique Edwardian era English sterling picture frame, hallmarked Birmingham 1906.  Made by the silversmith firm of J Aitken & Son of Spencer Street, Birmingham, in business circa 1903-18.

The Japanese inspired / Aesthetic Movement picture frame is decorated with a traditional depiction of a Geisha with exotic floral blossoms, asymmetrically placed.  The picture frame is in good condition with a restored dark blue velvet back.  The English registration number 457469 dates the design in 1905.

The overall dimensions are 9 1/2” (24.1cm) high, 8 3/8” (21.3cm) wide.

The internal dimensions are 5 1/2” (14cm) by 3 7/8” (9.8cm).
